The Starfall is considered the most world-shaping event in the history of Aerth. Exactly how long ago it occurred and some of the details are subjects of great debate and speculation among the world's scholars, but the basics are widely agreed upon. No history books have stood the test of time to tell these tales accurately, and it is only through the storytelling traditions of the older races that any knowledge remains of the world before, or the event that changed it forever.
Over 3000 years ago some celestial body struck Aerth. It is argued whether it was a star, a comet, a meteor shower, or shards of a broken moon that once orbited it's other. Some even claim it was an actual body; that of a god cast down from the heavens. Whatever the truth is, this great calamity changed the shape of many lands and created lakes and seas where great nations once stood.
In the wake of the Starfall many great migrations occurred. People left starving lands that could no longer support them to find more hospitable homes far across the land or sea. Some moved to other parts of the vast eastern continent of Kadael, while others crossed the Savage Depths or the Sea of Fire to settle Batira Continent. Though it is believed that the majority of the deep jungles of the southern isle of Vaqili were untouched by this spread of humanity, and remain unexplored even to this day, most nations of Aerth today were populated as a result of this calamity. The Starfall changed the face of Aerth in many ways besides it's geography, and continues to do so in ways most will never see.
